President Robert L. Manuel > Notes from Rob > 2023-24 > Incident on Lincoln Park Campus this morning

Incident on Lincoln Park Campus this morning

This morning at 8 a.m., we were made aware that someone posted several hundred unauthorized and triggering posters in multiple buildings, including Arts & Letters, Richardson Library and SAC, on the Lincoln Park Campus. This act runs contrary to university policy, and we responded immediately to remove the inflammatory posters and began reviewing our security footage.

We are actively working to determine if those who are responsible can be identified based on the security footage. If so, any individuals who are members of the DePaul community will be held accountable according to the appropriate university disciplinary process.

I recognize that an act like this on our campus is upsetting. Please know our work will continue to ensure DePaul remains a safe, nurturing, and welcoming space for our diverse university community. I will reiterate the guiding principles that university leadership recently shared with our faculty, staff, and students and make it clear that DePaul will not tolerate acts of hatred, violence, Islamophobia, or antisemitism.

Please know that the safety and wellbeing of our university community remains our highest priority. If you experience any threats or acts of violence, please report them immediately to Public Safety at 773-325-7777 (Lincoln Park) or 312-362-8400 (Loop).

If you are struggling personally, please know that the following services are always available to you:

If you need to report discrimination or harassment in violation of the university's Anti-discrimination and Anti-harassment policy, you can do so here:

  • All complaints of sexual harassment, sex discrimination, or sexual violence should be reported to the Office of Gender Equity/Title IX Coordinator.
  • Complaints of harassment/discrimination on any basis other than sex alleged to be committed by a student should be reported to the Dean of Students Office.
  • Complaints of harassment/discrimination on any basis other than sex alleged to be committed by an employee should be reported to Human Resources.
Thank you for helping us keep our university safe and welcoming to all.
