Dialogue Collaborative: Event Sponsorship

Supporting the DePaul community in holding dialogue events is a core part of the collaborative’s work.

A limited amount of funding is available on a rolling basis each academic year.  Applications will be considered until funding is depleted for that academic year. Please submit your application at least two weeks prior to the event.

If co-sponsored through the Dialogue Collaborative, the organizers agree to complete and submit a brief survey about the outcomes of the event to support assessment of the collaborative.

Applications for funding will be considered according to the following criteria:

1. Event purpose shows explicit connection to goals of the Dialogue Collaborative:
  • To invite members of the DePaul community to constructively engage new perspectives beyond their own.
  • To practice active and empathic listening
  • To engage in collective inquiry and meaning making
  • To build community and understanding across boundaries of difference
  • To model Vincentian values of dignity, justice and education

2. Events that engage the use of an experienced facilitator of dialogue are especially encouraged and welcome. The Dialogue Collaborative maintains a list of trained facilitators for this purpose.

3. Funding is offered to cover the following:

  • Honoraria or stipends for speakers
  • Food and refreshments
  • Supplies needed for event
  • Marketing materials (e.g., creation of posters/fliers)
4. Events with confirmed, contributing co-sponsors will be given preference.
Applications may be made under one of two categories, with the following funding limits:
  • Community-building Event: This is an event that brings people together for learning and dialogue, teaches approaches to dialogue, and/or builds understanding around a specific topic or issue.
    • Funding limit $500
  • Facilitated Event: This is a larger event that focuses on generating dialogue around a specific topic or issue. It may include a speaker or panel, but emphasis should be on providing a space for facilitated dialogue among members of the DePaul community.
    • Funding limit $1500*
    • *Requests for larger amounts will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
