Dear Faculty and Staff,
As we head into the final months of the year, we want to pause and express our deepest gratitude and appreciation for all you do. In a time when the financial landscape of higher education, and of DePaul specifically, presents real challenges, your dedication, passion, and commitment to our students and to our mission shine through every single day.
We recognize that times of uncertainty can be difficult, and we are committed to facing these challenges together, guided by our Catholic, Vincentian values.
Extending our holiday breaks
The resilience and strength of our community are DePaul’s greatest assets, and the consistent hard work of every faculty and staff member is the foundation of that strength. In recognition of your exceptional efforts and as a small token of our gratitude for your dedication, we are pleased to announce extensions to our upcoming holiday breaks.
Staff Council recommended that the administration seek ways to provide staff with additional time for rest and rejuvenation by extending upcoming holiday breaks where possible. We appreciate Staff Council’s thoughtful proposal, and we’re happy to support their initiative.
Specifically, the university will implement the following changes:
- Thanksgiving Break: We will close on Wednesday, Nov. 26, allowing you to start your holiday celebration a full day sooner.
- Winter Break: We will close on Monday, Dec. 22, extending the university’s official winter break by an extra day.
These extensions are intended to give you more time to spend with loved ones, recharge your spirit, and enjoy well-deserved rest.
Community, support, and our shared future
The DePaul community is a resilient one, rooted in a shared purpose. Our care for one another is our greatest strength, and we want to assure you that even in difficult times, your well-being remains a top priority. We see the unwavering dedication to your work, and we are profoundly grateful.
Thank you again for your extraordinary commitment to DePaul. We hope this additional time off provides a meaningful opportunity for rest and reflection.
With gratitude,
Rob Manuel
