President Robert L. Manuel > Notes from Rob > 2024-25 > Early voting in Chicago begins today

Early voting in Chicago begins today

Dear Faculty, Staff and Students,

This year’s presidential election will take place on Nov. 5. Campaigning has been well underway for some time now, and early voting begins today, Oct. 3, in Chicago. I would like to take this opportunity, first and foremost, to emphasize the importance of registering to vote.  I also ask that you take a moment to review DePaul’s policies on political campaign activities.

Voter registration

Voting is an important civic responsibility, and I hope all U.S. citizens within the DePaul community will participate in our democratic processes. This may be the first time many of our first-year students can vote. For those students and any other students who are not yet registered to vote, you may take advantage of voter registration services and other available resources through Vote DePaul.

Note that there are deadlines to register to vote, and you can find those dates here. For more information about voter registration, please visit the following websites:

For Chicago residents:

For suburban Cook County residents:

Political campaign activities

DePaul’s policies on political campaign activities are designed to foster civic participation while protecting DePaul’s nonpartisan position. It is important to keep them in mind to avoid the appearance that DePaul is engaged in inappropriate partisan campaign activity. These policies can be found online at the University Policies & Procedures page (please access using your Blue Sky login and password).

I encourage you to participate in the upcoming election and engage in the issues you care about most. At the same time, I ask you to treat one another with respect and compassion. Please remember our shared expectations for our DePaul community and our commitment to respect the dignity of every individual. This year’s election is an opportunity to find ways to have a dialogue with each other, respect difference, and work toward understanding. Thank you for everything you do to care for and support one another.

Sincerely,

Robert L. Manuel
President
