DePaul University statement on events in Israel and Gaza

Our hearts ache to see the horrific violence and tragic loss of life taking place right now in Israel and Gaza. We pray for peace.

We ask God using the words of the Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem that the God of peace and love inspire world leaders in their intervention for the implementation of peace and concord so that the Holy Land may be a house of prayer, respect, and peaceful coexistence for people of different cultural, political, and religious backgrounds.

We, as a Catholic university founded on an irrefutable interfaith commitment, join the prayers of all those in the world who believe in peace and nonviolence for an immediate de-escalation of the current situation.

We stand as one DePaul community in support of our faculty, staff, students, family, and friends who are hurting and in fear for loved ones. If you are a member of our community seeking help in the wake of these events, please know that DePaul is here for you with services including:
We invite the university community to join us in a meditative prayer for peace and non-violence on Tuesday, Oct. 10 at 4:30 p.m. in the Lincoln Park Student Center, Room 120, sponsored by the Division of Mission and Ministry.
