Gender Identity

The Office of Gender Equity (OGE) is one of the many departments on campus to serve as a resource for gender identity related matters. As part of its charge and mission, OGE seeks to assist and support students, faculty, and staff who may experience instances of discrimination and/or harassment based upon sexual orientation and gender identity.

Resources

  • LGBTQIA Resource Center
Primarily a resource for students, the Center's site also provides valuable content relative to a myriad of topics. OGE is pleased to have a relationship with the Center that allows for collaboration, discussion of current issues, and a joint programming module which highlights the need for awareness of gender identity and sexual orientation issues that arise, particularly in the context of higher education.

DePaul University also has a LBGTQ Faculty and Staff Network to support lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning faculty and staff at the university. For more information, visit their webpage and/or email LBGTQnetwork@depaul.edu.

  • Gender Transition Process for Faculty and Staff
In keeping with DePaul's commitment to equity and inclusion and our mission to respect the human dignity of every member of our community, DePaul has implemented a gender transition option accessible through the Gender Transition Process Form.

The intent is to provide an option for an individual employee who wishes to change their gender, gender pronouns, name, and/or photo in one place and have it communicated effectively to areas of the University necessary to effectuate that change.

This form will notify a designee within your home department, Academic Affairs, ID Services, Advancement, Information Services, Alumni Relations, and Enrollment Management of your updated gender, gender pronouns, name, and/or photo, so that systems and University websites can be updated. Please note: This form should not be used by faculty or staff who are making legal name changes unrelated to gender transition (i.e., marriage, divorce, etc.).

Changes to your preferred name without legal documentation and/or gender can be completed through your Personal Details tile on mybluesky.depaul.edu.
To submit a new photo for your DePaul ID card, please follow these instructions.
If you are legally changing your name, you will need to contact Human Resources at HRCentral@depaul.edu.

  • Campus Training
OGE works collaboratively with other departments on campus to provide training opportunities to faculty and staff relative to our policies and procedures. To request a training, please reach out to our office at titleixcoordinator@depaul.edu.

  • Submit a Report
Should a member of the DePaul community experience conduct that could rise to the level of violating an existing policy, they can submit a report to OGE regarding the situation. If you are uncertain whether the conduct constitutes a report, you are still encouraged to submit a report using our online reporting form or contacting us directly via phone (312-362-8970) or email (titleixcoordinator@depaul.edu).
