DePaul Student Health

Health Services

Health Services are offered through DePaul Student Health at 1150 W. Fullerton Ave, in Lincoln Park.

The program offers basic medical care for minor illnesses and injuries for a quarterly fee. It is NOT a health insurance plan. If a student lives in a residence hall, except for University Center, they are automatically enrolled in DePaul Student Health Service.

Commuter students can access DePaul Student Health Service by paying the student health service fee to DePaul Central. For more information, contact the Office of Health Promotion and Wellness at (773)325-7129.

In addition to student health services, HPW offers many health resources such as HIV and STI testing quarterly on campus. Testing is free, provided by community organizations and available to all DePaul students. Additional information on other health resources is available at go.depaul.edu/healthresources.

The health services fee is designed to cover acute illnesses and injuries. For students with chronic illnesses, student health can treat an acute episode; however, long-term monitoring and treatment is not covered by the fee.

The health services fee does cover STD testing when a student is experiencing symptoms. Students' sexual health is an important component of their development, and student health is an appropriate support and referral source for students.

Prescriptions provided to students are NOT covered by the fee. Pharmacies adjacent to campus accept a variety of prescriptions drug cards as well as cash payments.

DePaul Student Health cannot refill prescriptions for the treatment of ADD/ADHD. Other ongoing prescriptions, such as Accutane, antidepressants and bipolar medications, cannot be refilled by physicians at student health.

DePaul Student Health welcomes parents and guardians to call with general concerns or questions. While specific questions regarding diagnosis or treatment may not be shared without the consent of the patient, the staff will make every effort to assist parents and guardians because they understand how difficult it can be to be far away from a sick student.

Students who live in a residence hall (except the University Center) automatically pay the $60 (per quarter) health services fee as part of their on campus housing. Students who commute or live off campus can pay the health services fee with a credit card by logging into Campus Connect. Go to: Main Menu - Self Service - Student Resources - Sage Medical Registration. If you need to pay the fee by cash or check you must visit DePaul Central.

Dates health services fee covers:
Winter 2024: January 7th - March 22nd
Spring 2024: April 1st - June 14th

Before choosing to opt out of the health services fee, consider the student's access to local health care and insurance coverage. DePaul Student Health can provide easy and affordable access to basic health care.

To discontinue the health services fee, residence hall students must present a copy of their DePaul ID card and proof of medical insurance (copy of an insurance card or a letter from the insurance company). On the copy, PRINT: student name, residence hall with room number and DePaul ID number. Please complete this form by the following deadlines (there will be no refunds after these deadlines):

  • Fall quarter: September 20th, 2023 to be dropped for fall, winter and spring quarters
  • Winter quarter January 20th, 2024 to be dropped for winter and spring quarters
  • Spring quarter: April 15th, 2024 to be dropped for spring quarter

Once a student has submitted a copy of an insurance card at the beginning of the year, there is no need to present it every quarter. This is a yearly process. The bill will initially show a charge for "medcare" each quarter, but the account will be credited following the first two weeks of each quarter.
