Black History Month

Black History Month Schedule

Black History Month takes place in February each year, ever since Black History Week was established in 1926, and was subsequently expanded to a month in 1976. The month serves to pay tribute to the generations of African Americans who struggled with adversity to achieve full citizenship in American society.

At DePaul, the month encompasses a number of events offered by departments, areas and student organizations across the university. In the past, the events have included student open mics, receptions, student showcases and guest lectures, among other things.
