Today, Jan. 27, is International Holocaust Remembrance Day, an annual day of commemoration to honor the six million Jewish victims and millions of other victims of Nazism lost to genocide during the Holocaust. The day marks the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz, the largest and most infamous camp complex where more than 1.1 million people died.
At 10:30 a.m. this morning, DePaul’s Interfaith Scholars will host a Holocaust Remembrance Prayer and moment of silence in the Jewish Life Center in the Lincoln Park Student Center, Suite 340. I invite you to join them in prayer, either in person or in spirit, to reflect on the lives lost during the Holocaust.
In the Vincentian spirit in which our university is grounded, we stand in solidarity against all modern forms of antisemitism. We must continue to build bridges within our community to collectively work against violence, oppression, and discrimination — and toward a path of compassion, peaceful understanding, and love.
