Diversity Presidential Fellowship Program

As one of the immediate actions to address questions of equity at the university, DePaul will offer up to five fellowships to focus on discrete questions of equity for any of the university's affinity groups. Strong preference will be given to interdisciplinary research proposals submitted by up to five faculty members, with no more than one faculty member per college or school.

The goal of this fellowship program is to support research into the lived reality of our diverse communities. Tenured faculty will have the opportunity to work with the president and engage in research for a one-year appointment. Presidential fellows will focus on a variety of areas, with an overall commitment to action.

Examples of Proposed Activities

Each presidential fellow or group of fellows will have the opportunity to:

  • Conduct research on an agreed-upon topic
  • Collaborate with the president, the vice president of the Office of Institutional Diversity and Equity, and the associate provost for diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Propose diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives to be submitted to the president
  • Deliver presentations internally and externally on related diversity, equity, and inclusion research and initiatives

Presidential fellows are required to submit an action plan to the president and the vice president of OIDE, outlining the year’s activities and projects.

The candidate must be a tenured faculty member, with an interest in working on diversity and inclusion related issues, research, and program innovation. Fellowships will not be available during the 2023-24 academic year. Information about the application process for 2024-25 academic year will be shared when it is available.
