Frequently Asked Questions - VSD 2016

What if the service location I want to volunteer has no spots available ?

Registration for service locations are on a first come, first serve basis and due to capacity restrictions at many of our sites we are limited in what accomodations we can make. Please consider volunteering at one of the other service sites. If you are a part of a group or received a group invitation email and your service site is at capcaity please contact us at serviceday@depaul.edu. ​

Where and when is Vincentian Service Day

Vincentian Service Day will take place Saturday, May 6, 2017. There will be a morning kick-off in the Sullivan Athletic Center before departure for service sites and a Justice fair and lunch in the QUAD following service. Doors to the Sullivan Athletic Center will open at 8 a.m. ​​

Is there a dress code for Vincentian Service Day?

We are asking students to bring closed-toe shoes and wear long pants, not including yoga pants. It is strongly recommended that you bring a water bottle, wear shoes you do not mind getting dirty and dress for the weather.

Is breakfast served on VSD?

There will be a light breakfast served at the morning kick-off.​

Is lunch served at VSD?

Yes, there will be lunch at the justice fair, which will take place in the QUAD.​

What is the transportation for VSD?

We are asking students to please bring their VENTRA cards, as we will be using public transportation to get to almost all service sites.​

Can I reserve a service site ahead of time?

No, individual registration is on a first-come, first-serve basis. ​

Can I register a group?

Yes! To register a group please select your service location and complete the group registration form by April 9th. Make sure you have not already received a group signup invitation email from any of your other members.​​

Can I bring a family member or friend to Vincentian Service Day?

Unfortunately we are limited by liability requirements when working with non-DePaul persons, especially minors. We do not have the capacity to accommodate these types of requests at this time. ​

What happens if it rains?

Vincentian Service Day will happen rain or shine! In case of rain we will move the afternoon program to an alternative indoor space. ​

Can alumni participate in Vincentian Service Day?

YES! All DePaul alumni are welcome and encouraged to particpate in Vincentian Service Day. Please register through the alumni events page.​​
