Liturgy and Prayer

Sunday Night Mass

Each Sunday night, the DePaul community gathers to celebrate Mass at St. Vincent de Paul Church. Students prepare the liturgy and serve as the liturgical ministers (lectors, Eucharistic ministers, altar servers, hospitality ministers and music ministers). The DePaul Liturgical Choir leads the music, which includes everything from hymns and chants to contemporary and world music. After Mass, refreshments are served by the residents of the Vincent & Louise House.

Whether you go to Mass weekly, once in a while, or have never been to a Catholic Mass, you are welcome here! Come celebrate with us!

Daily Mass

Mass is celebrated each weekday in the St. Louise de Marillac Chapel (Lincoln Park - Student Center) and the Miraculous Medal Chapel (Loop - Lewis Center). Faculty, staff and students are all welcome to participate.

Taizé Prayer

Taizé Prayer is a contemplative Christian prayer that is offered each Tuesday during the school year. It is comprised of short, repeated songs, silence and a short scripture reading, creating a peaceful and reflective environment in which one can be "alone with God...together." Contact Suzanne Gillen for more information.

  • Tuesdays at 8:00 p.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Church

DePaul Liturgical Choir

The DePaul Liturgical Choir is an ensemble of undergraduate and graduate students whose primary purpose is leading the music each week at Sunday Night Mass. Rehearsals are held on Thursday afternoons in the St. Louise de Marillac Chapel in the Student Center. No audition is required, just the ability to match pitch.

Instrumentalists are also encouraged to share their talents. Strings, woodwinds, brass, guitar and percussion are all used throughout the year, with rehearsals scheduled as needed.

For more information about the Liturgical Choir or instrumental music, contact Suzanne Gillen or Matthew Verive. Sign
