Loop Ministry

DePaul Loop Ministry works with professional, adult and undergrad students in the Loop to provide opportunities for spiritual exploration, community service & social justice education, liturgy & prayer, faith development, and self-discovery. We support the spirituality of people from many religious traditions (including Christian, Muslim, Jewish, Hindu and Buddhist), as well as those seeking their spiritual path who are not affiliated.

Loop Ministry also provides access to daily, noon Catholic mass and weekly yoga as well as ethics and faith-based programming.

If you would like to find out more information about Loop Ministry please contact the Office of Religious Diversity at 773.325.7902.

Meet the Staff
Our two loop-based Chaplains are Tom Judge and Abdul-Malik Ryan. Contact them for information about their programs or services, or just to get to know them!

Prayer, Worship & Religious Celebrations

We celebrate various religious holidays and festivals in the Loop, including Ash Wednesday, Ramadan, Diwali, Sukkot and the feasts of St. Vincent de Paul and St. Louise de Marillac. We also plan and celebrate public prayer services and vigils (e.g., for world peace), as appropriate.

For important holidays among many faith traditions, check out www.interfaithcalendar.org.

Loop Community Service

Serving those in need is a core Vincentian value. Loop Community Service, a part of University Ministry in the Loop, helps groups and individuals connect to service opportunities that will give them a chance to reflect, grow and give back to the community. Whether it is on-going service or a one-time only event, contact Loop Community Service at serviceintheloop@gmail.com or Chaplain Tom Judge to ask questions or get involved.

Many of the Loop colleges have community service opportunities. For example, the College of Law has a thriving Pro-Bono and Community Service Initiative available to all law students. For more information about this or other college-based service, contact Tom Judge.

For those who would like to participate in existing weekly service opportunities out of the Lincoln Park Campus, go to the Community Engagement section to find out more about DePaul Community Service Association groups.
