Some important changes have been made to 2019 graduation ceremonies at Wintrust Arena, in addition to those made in order to accomodate the ceremonies at Wintrust for the first time in 2018. These changes will affect the business school’s ceremonies, guest tickets and caps and gowns.
In order to shorten the ceremony and allow each graduate to receive more guest tickets, the Dreihaus College of Business will hold two separate ceremonies for undergraduate and graduate students.
This year, June graduates from all colleges (except the Law School) will each be allotted six guest tickets to their commencement ceremony. Graduates who do not need all six tickets are encouraged to share their extras with friends and classmates who may need more than six tickets. The university will also provide an opportunity for students to give their tickets back and place them in a lottery. More information will be shared on this process in the coming months on the commencement website
For many years, DePaul has been one of the few universities in the country that paid the costs of students’ commencement regalia. Beginning this year, however, students will pay to purchase their own regalia for the ceremonies. This cost will be:
- Undergraduate students $67 plus tax
- Graduate students $101 plus tax
- Doctoral students $125 plus tax
After the ceremony, students may keep the regalia. The university has negotiated prices that are in line with, or below, what students at DePaul’s peer institutions pay. Our vendor manufactures the regalia from environmentally friendly fabric. Unlike most universities, DePaul does not charge students a graduation fee.
