Women Empowered Career Academy

The Women Empowered (WE) Program is a cohort-based program offered through the Office of Multicultural Success (OMSS) that supports and develops undergraduate women of color by facilitating programming centered on community, leadership and scholarship. To be eligible for WE, you must be in sophomore to senior standing, and self-identify with one or more of our target populations: first-generation college student, low-income background and/or student of color. Participation in WE requires students to attend workshops/events/programs, meet with the WE graduate assistant and develop end-of-year reflections. All WE programming takes an identity-conscious approach, and the focuses of programming are (but are not limited to): career development, graduate school, alumni engagement, networking within DePaul and in Chicago and cultural exploration.

WE strives to do the following:

  • Support and challenge women of color to achieve academic success;
  • Encourage and assist women of color in engaging in the DePaul Student Experience;
  • Facilitate dialogue around career options and graduate school exploration;
  • Advocate and sustain positive identity development;
  • Develop involvement and inclusion in leadership activities;
  • Foster intergenerational mentoring; and
  • Promote community service and engagement.
