IGNITE Leadership Retreat

  • IGNITE: A Social Change Experience is a two day off-campus leadership retreat for students interested in working toward a more equitable society and campus community.
    Students will focus on their multiple and intersecting identities, and how the principles of empathy, community, dialogue, and justice can help us in pursuit of inclusive community. Participants will also explore systemic and institutional issues of power and privilege and learn how to apply their knowledge to become effective change agents.

    This year's retreat will take place February 24-26, 2017. Interested students should apply by February 3rd, 2017.

Learning Outcomes

  • Participants will deepen their understanding of the dynamics of oppression at the individual, group, cultural, and systems levels.
  • Participants will explore dominant and subordinated group dynamics.
  • Participants will develop a Social Justice Action Plan focused on personal growth goals and an intervention that will impact the DePaul campus community.

Interested in Being a Facilitator?

Facilitators will lead small groups of students alongside a selected student leader and work to build community within their groups, debrief large group sessions, and deepen understanding and discussion.
