Workshops for On-Campus Student Employees

The Center for Intercultural Programs partners with the Office of Student Employment to provide diversity workshops for on-campus student employees to support their development in both their current job and future careers. Two workshops are currently available for supervisors to request for their student staff members to complete.

4 Steps to Positive Cross-Cultural Communication
Do you know how to engage in challenging situations with people who call or visit your office? Learn a communication technique to promote effective cross-cultural interactions to assist in these types of situations. Students will learn the steps for this technique and practice them using a variety of scenarios and custom-created situations they face in their role during this 60 minute workshop.

Cultural Competence & Career Readiness (This workshop is specifically for EDGE teams)
Learn how to increase your knowledge, attitudes and skills for promoting social justice in your EDGE team and beyond. Students will learn how to develop cultural competence and leave with a concrete action plan to use with supervisors to guide their development during this 60 minute workshop.

To request one of these workshops, please e-mail Scott Tharp, at least 2-3 weeks in advance. In your email, please include 1)preferred date(s) and time(s), 2) location, 3) number of student staff who will attend, and 4) any special needs / requests.
