MAP matters!

Support our MAP students and fill out a postcard asking state legislators to fully fund MAP

State funding for the Illinois Monetary Award Program (MAP) is at risk again this year. The MAP program provides grants to lower and middle income Illinois residents who attend approved Illinois colleges and demonstrate financial need. In support of DePaul students who receive these funds, the DePaul Student Government Association (SGA) is asking students, faculty and staff to advocate for a fully-funded MAP program again this year. SGA is providing pre-printed postcards to faculty, staff and students to sign, and then SGA will send the postcards to the appropriate state legislators.

The grant awarded almost $400 million to Illinois students who, without the grant, might not have attended college. Almost 5,000 DePaul students receive MAP grants.

Completed postcards should be returned to SGA by March 10, 2017. Those interested in supporting DePaul students receiving MAP funds can pick up postcards at the Office of Student Involvement on either campus:

Lincoln Park
Lincoln Park Student Center, room 201G

DePaul Center 11th floor, room 11027

The goal is to reach 4,000 signed postcards. Signed postcards can be left in the Office of Student Involvement.
