Traditions: Welcome Week 2017 re-envisioned

Student Affairs committee focuses first week of events, introduces Back to School program

A committee consisting of staff members from across the Division of Student Affairs collaborated to create a re-envisioned Welcome Week, which will take place Sunday, August 27 to Friday, September 8. Welcome Week, a staple at DePaul for over ten years, will greet new DePaul students with an increased energy and more focused programs than in the past.

Welcome Week programs will focus on building community among students, helping students become familiar with DePaul’s campuses, assisting students with navigating and finding opportunities in Chicago, and emphasizing harm reduction and the Take Care DePaul message of “Take care of yourself. Take care of each other. Take care DePaul.”

The programs will be delivered with an increased energy, and encourage affinity for DePaul as a whole, as well as provide new students with the resources they need to become accustomed to DePaul and the city as their campus. Taste of DePaul, where food vendors in the Lincoln Park come and provide samples to new students, and a Welcome Back party hosted by University Ministry and Catholic Campus Ministry are just two of the many events that will be hosted during the week. Find more details and events on the Welcome Week website.

All events coordinated after September 8 will be part of the Back to School program. Student Affairs will continue to work collaboratively to market Welcome Week to the university and its incoming students.
