University Ministry provides a wide array of people, activities, events, and gatherings through the work of 16 full-time staff members in the following departments: Catholic Campus Ministry, the Office of Religious Diversity, and the Vincentian Community Service Office. The services of University Ministry are designed to help all students, regardless of their religious affiliation or spiritual beliefs, to become more complete and whole by finding a strong community of support, by nurturing their relationship to God, and by serving others. Whether through a weekly DCSA community service group, in a Bible Study group on campus, at a weekend retreat in Wisconsin, through an immersion experience working with the homeless in New York, or by meeting with other students to discuss or explore your beliefs, life purpose, or your relationships and values -- let University Ministry help you grow.
Spirituality, service, and a commitment to justice are at the heart of the learning that happens at DePaul and University Ministry departments and programs can help you find a community of fellow students with whom to live out these values, to meet high-quality, lifelong friends, and to make a difference in the world around you.
University Ministry is DePaul’s leader in supporting and strengthening the religious and spiritual life of DePaul students and the University community.
Inspired by the legacy of St. Vincent de Paul and St. Louise de Marillac, we participate in the Vincentian tradition by:
- being rooted in faith and prayer
- forming vibrant communities which connect faith to everyday life
- dedicating ourselves to the service of others, especially to people who are poor or marginalized
- Inviting a deepened understanding of and advocacy for systemic change for social justice
- practicing a distinctive personalism based on a belief in the sacred dignity of all people
University Ministry will strengthen institution-wide attention to the religious and spiritual development of students and to service with people who are poor and marginalized as integral dimensions of DePaul’s Catholic-Vincentian mission, as essential elements of the DePaul Student Experience, and as critical to the education of “socially responsible future leaders” in the Vincentian tradition. Our work will have a positive, visible and measurable impact on the religious and spiritual life of the DePaul community.
