The fundamental goal of the Presidential Fellow is to work with the president and engage in research regarding diversity and inclusion issues influencing the recruitment, retention, and success of diverse faculty, staff and students. Each Presidential Fellow has the opportunity to bring substantive understanding and intellectual rigor to the strategic discussions around diversity and inclusion. Each Presidential Fellow will perform research and supplemental activities under the auspices of the Office of the President for a one-year appointment with an option for a half-year appointment.
Presidential Fellows will focus in a variety of areas, with an overall commitment to intellectual grounding of actions in research and program innovation. The activities of the Presidential Fellows will offer a comprehensive approach that includes diversity and inclusion research both internally and externally to DePaul University, university program recommendations, and curriculum development. This could include diversity in higher education, diversifying the curriculum or best practices for ensuring the recruitment and retention of diverse students and faculty.
With the general goal of stimulating support for and coordination of research on diversity, each Presidential Fellow will have the opportunity to engage in the following activities:
The Presidential Fellow will complete an action plan as agreed upon with the President on the year’s activities and projects.
The candidate must be a tenured faculty member, with a desired interest in working on diversity and inclusion related issues, research, and program innovation. The successful candidate will be announced early in the Winter Quarter 2020.
