Archbishop Blase J. Cupich played the role of principal celebrant Sunday, Sept. 27, at DePaul College Prep’s Opening of School Liturgy and Blessing. Joined at mass by Father Holtschneider, the archbishop spoke about the “enormous crowds and wonderful enthusiasm” in the U.S. for the pope during his visit earlier in the month. Near the end of the service, Archbishop Cupich blessed a stack of Bibles that will be presented to each first-year student at DePaul. Later, he blessed a statue of St. Vincent de Paul on the grounds of the school on the city’s Northwest Side.
