In celebration of its nearly 100 years in operation, The Chicago Community Trust, an organization dedicated to bettering the city, decided to ask Chicagoans where they thought funds should go. Thus, On the Table was born, and nearly 10,000 participants came together for 1,000 mealtime conversations held across the city to dicuss and imagine the future of Chicago.
The Trust invited DePaul University to host one of these engaging conversations, but the Rev. Dennis H. Holtschneider, C.M., president of DePaul, had his own version in mind. Instead of holding a formal event with university alumni and donors, he opened the dinner to DePaul's student body. Nearly 30 students gathered on May 12, each presenting different ideas and viewpoints on the issues Chicago faces. For more information, read the story here.
