DePaul recently celebrated the first full year of operating the Arnold Mitchem Fellowship Program, which serves underrepresented students in their sophomore year.  The program creates a pathway to the McNair Scholars, a federally funded program that prepares  underepresented  students in their  junior year to pursue doctoral studies through research and other scholarly activities. Father Holtschneider spoke at the event and introduced the keynote speaker, Dr. Arnold Mitchem, who has fought tirelessly throughout his entire career for low-income, first-generation students, individuals with disabilities, adult learners, and veterans. DePaul named the fellowship program in his honor.
