The Illinois Latino Council on Higher Education commemorated its 20th anniversary at its professional and student development conference held on DePaul's Lincoln Park Campus in March. Elizabeth Ortiz, DePaul's vice president for Institutional Diversity and Equity, and the Rev. Dennis Holtschneider, C.M., president, welcomed about 400 attendees, including Illinois Board of Higher Education Chair Carrie J. Hightman. The State of Illinois and the City of Chicago issued proclamations recognizing the group and its important efforts to empower Latinos through education.​
