Patricia O'Donoghue became Interim
President on August 1, 2014. She will
serve in this capacity until December 31, 2014, when the Rev. Dennis H.
Holtschneider, C.M. returns from his sabbatical at Harvard University. Prior to
becoming Interim President, O’Donoghue held multiple positions at DePaul, most
recently Interim Provost and Vice President for Strategic Initiatives &
A scholar and teacher with broad
clinical and research experience, O'Donoghue served as president of Mount Mary
College in Milwaukee from 1997 to 2006. She was vice president for Academic
Affairs and professor of nursing at LaRoche College in Pittsburgh from 1995 to
1997 and was at Carlow University in Pittsburgh, where she served as provost
and executive vice president among other roles, from 1979 to 1995.
She was a member of the founding
faculty of the School Nurse Practitioner Program at Carlow and held clinical
and faculty positions at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, University of
Pittsburgh, Magee-Women's Hospital and Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh.
O'Donoghue, who holds a Doctorate in
nursing from the University of Pittsburgh, has received numerous accolades for
leadership, including the YWCA Wisconsin Women of Distinction Award; the School
Sisters of Notre Dame-Milwaukee Province Special Achievement Award; and the
Distinguished Alumna Award from the University Of Pittsburgh School Of Nursing.
She has served on the boards of many
nonprofit schools and organizations, including the Foundation for Independent
Higher Education, the Women's College Coalition, the Rwanda Foundation and the
American Council on Education Commission on Women in Higher Education.
