Innovation through Collaboration supports collaborative research, creative activities, and instruction among all of DePaul's ten schools and colleges through internal funding, faculty development and networking opportunities, and Affinity Groups. Collaborative grants are awarded each Spring and Fall and the Provost's Research Fellowship is awarded only in the Spring. Workshops on collaborative grant writing are offered before each funding cycle.
Here are the latest funded team projects:
Provost's Collaborative Research Fellowship Program
The Provost's Collaborative Research Fellowship Program is intended to encourage research, scholarly, and creative efforts involving multiple faculty members across academic units who are engaged in interdisciplinary projects. Interested faculty should apply for the fellowship program in teams of up to four faculty from multiple academic units (e.g., the faculty on the team cannot be from a single local academic unit). The lead faculty member should submit the application on behalf of the team.
Successful applications will result in:
- A $20,000 grant which funds the research team's efforts for up to two years
- Dedicated space for the research team on the Loop campus for one year
- A stipend of $2,000 and recognition as a "Research Fellow" for each faculty member on the team

Collaborative Research Grants Program
Collaborative Research Grants are intended to encourage innovative research, scholarship, and creative projects involving multiple faculty members across academic units and disciplines who are engaged in interdisciplinary investigations of research problems. Faculty should apply for Collaborative Research Grants in teams with the lead investigator submitting the application on behalf of the team.
A successful application will result in up to $5,000 in research funds. Faculty members may apply for solo and collaborative URC grants simultaneously. Collaborative research grants may be used as seed or bridge grants in a start-up or a longer-term project that seeks external funding.

Collaborative Instruction Fellow Stipend Program
Collaborative Instruction Fellow Stipends are intended to foster interdisciplinary curricular innovation within degree-granting programs at DePaul. Collaborative stipends are granted to multiple faculty members from across local academic units and/or disciplines who are working together to develop an innovative interdisciplinary curricular enhancement such as:
- A new interdisciplinary course, courses, or program(s)
- A re-design that results in an interdisciplinary approach to an existing course, courses, or program
- A technological innovation that brings an interdisciplinary orientation to an existing course, courses, or program
- A team-taught course, courses, or program
Successful applicants will result in up to $4,000 for each faculty member involved in the project (with a maximum of three faculty members) as well as dedicated space for the team in the Loop campus for one year. Consultation and support for the process of shepherding a curricular proposal through the multi-stage approval processes of university shared governance may also be requested.
