Michael Jeswald has over 35 years of industry experience in hospitality and event management. He joined Niagara University in 2005 and is currently the Director of Conferences and Events. Previously, he was the Director of Convention Services and Sales for the Buffalo/Niagara Convention Center.
Michael received his MBA from Niagara University with a concentration in Human Resources.
Through his 12 years of employment at Niagara, Michael has had the opportunity to plan many prestigious events on campus; including the annual President’s Dinner, Commencement, and the Inauguration of the Reverend James, J. Maher, C.M.
Michael currently teaches an Event Planning class which allows the students to gain valuable experience by working side by side with him on campus events.
When I arrived to Niagara University in 2005, I immediately realized that this was the place for me. Having the knowledge of working for various organizations, I knew that Niagara University truly cared about their employees and I wanted the chance to be in a position where I “made a difference.” I have witnessed time and time again when everyone will work together to reach a common goal. This is what makes Niagara University special and I am proud to say that I work here.
I was very humbled when I was asked to join VMI this year. Recently, I had the pleasure to help chaperone a B.A.S.I.C. trip to Camden, N.J. and experience first-hand how truly special our students are. We speak daily about the mission of St. Vincent, but to live it by helping the less fortunate puts it in perspective. This was my first opportunity to join the amazing people from Campus Ministry on a week-long mission trip, and it was a life changing experience for me. I am an example that it is never too late to get involved and my hope is to continue to help on future trips. I also had the opportunity to visit the Chapel of the Miraculous Medal when on a personal trip to France last year, where it further strengthened my faith and helped me understand the importance of giving back.
