About Christmas at DePaul

Christmas at DePaul is a retelling of the birth of Christ in word and song. Unlike many other events which charge for admission, Christmas at DePaul is offered as a gift to the community. The admission “charge” for Christmas at DePaul is a donation of either money or a requested item, which go to support the operations of the St. Vincent de Paul Parish Food Pantry.

Event Information

Christmas at DePaul will takes place every year at St. Vincent de Paul Parish, located at 1010 W. Webster Avenue in Chicago, Illinois.  There are three performances, and tickets are required for each performance.  The show happens the first or second week of December. The performances are as follows:

  • Thursday, 7:00 p.m.
  • Friday, 7:00 p.m.
  • Friday, 9:00 p.m.

As we near the date, actual date and times of the shows will be posted.

Immediately following the Friday 7:00 p.m. performance, there will be a family friendly reception in the Student Center for the DePaul faculty, staff, students, Trustees, and families. The reception will include food, music, activities for children, and a visit from Santa Claus!

Christmas at DePaul is a celebration of the birth of Christ through a stirring selection of word and song.

Each year a student is selected from The Theatre School to narrate the sacred story. Selections of familiar and classic music are performed by the 150-member DePaul Community Chorus and a 50-member orchestra of students from the School of Music, providing a joyful score to this passionate retelling of our Lord's birth.

Following Friday's 7:00pm Christmas at DePaul performance is a family-friendly event open to all DePaul faculty, staff students, trustees and retirees. The reception is designed to bring families together for light refreshments, holiday crafts and to spread holiday cheer. Children will enjoy arts and crafts provided by Sparkle Entertainment including holiday cookie decorating, face painting and balloon artists. And Santa Claus will stop by for a visit and family photos!
