Biographical Information

A professional who specializes in strategic planning, organizational development, government relations, and public relations for nonprofit organizations, Roger has worked with nonprofit organizations in southeastern Michigan for the past 25 years. 

A graduate of Wayne State University and trained in small group theory and practice at the Communication Center of St. Louis, Missouri, Community Organization and Development at the University of Michigan School of Social Work and the University of Wisconsin.  Roger served as an executive with the Catholic Youth Organizations for 15 years, an administrative assistant to United States Congressman Dennis Hertel for 10 years, and Director of Government Relations for Outdoor Systems of Michigan. 

In 1998 Roger was appointed Executive Director of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul in the Archdiocese of Detroit.  On April 7, 2003, Roger began his position as the CEO for the National Society of St. Vincent de Paul in St. Louis, Missouri.

Roger’ long history with nonprofits includes experiences as a volunteer, staff member, executive manager, board member, committee chair and elected officer.  He has worked with a diverse range of organizations, having served as President of the Monroe County Inter-Faith Social Action Association and President of the Community Substance Abuse Outreach Center Board of Directors in Macomb County.  He also served as a board member of Urban Development Consultants (a private consulting firm), and was President of Neighborhood East Area Residents, a local community council on the east side of Detroit.  He has served as chair of numerous committee efforts ranging from programmatic, administrative, nominations, development, public relations, fund raising and diversity.

As a trained process consultant and facilitator in change management and leadership development, he was most recently involved as a national team member in a reinventing and change management project with a North American advertising corporation.  He has assisted several Catholic parishes in developing strategic plans.  He has delivered many workshops on planning for nonprofit organizations in the Detroit area.  Currently, he is a member and past President of the Board of Directors of the Catholic Youth Organization, a 2.3 million dollar agency serving youth and adults in the six counties of southeastern Michigan.  He was recently elected to the Board of Directors of the Michigan League for Human Services and served three years as Chair of the Archdiocesan Advisory Board of Catholic Education.  Roger has also been appointed and is currently serving on the Social Policy Committee of Catholic Charities, USA.

Roger is married with three children and the proud grandparent of four.  He and his wife, Sue, live in Grosse Pointe Park, Mich., and are active in community affairs in the Detroit area.​
