The Office of Mission and Values identified eight DePaul students to be 2009-2010 Vincentian Youth Leaders (VYL) responsible for organizing the event. The VYL program provided funds for summer stipends, travel, and other expenses necessary to successfully organize the convocation. The VYL Program received accreditation towards the attainment of the Student Leadership Institute Certificate. The VYL participants received junior year experiential learning credit by enrolling in REL 259: Religion and Social Engagement: Youth Rallies during the Spring Quarter of 2010. The VYL program began on August 25, 2009 with a three-day retreat. The Leaders attended weekly meetings, participated in the Vincentian Heritage Study tour to France, and were actively involved in each aspect of the planning and coordination of the Vincentian Young Adult Convocation.
