Blackberry Encryption

Prior to encrypting, fully charge your device, and plug into an outlet (Some devices will not allow you to begin encrypting until the battery is full.​)
  1. On the home screen, swipe down from the top of the screen. 
  2. Tap Settings

  3. Choose Security

  4. Choose Encrypt Phone.

  5. Set the Device Encryption switch to On.


Changing the Device PIN​


PIN complexity requirements w​ill force PINs to be reset if they do not meet minimum security settings.  The requirements are as follows:

  • PINs must be a minimum of 4 characters.
  • PINs cannot be the same character repeated (i.e. '1111' or '2222')
  • PINs cannot contain sequential patterns (i.e. '1234' or '6789')
To reset PINs that do not meet these requirements, follow these steps:

  • Go to 'Settings'
  • Go to 'Security and Privacy'
  • Go to 'Device Password'
  • Choose 'Change Password'
