Dell laptops are the standard supported platform in the university due to their portability and compatibility for most business applications.  This Windows-based Dell laptop provides enough computing power for the vast majority of faculty and staff.

MacBook Pro

Eligible employees have the option to order a MacBook Pro as a work computer. MacBook Pros are not recommended for most employees. MacBooks don't work as well with software, applications, and systems common to many DePaul faculty and staff work requirements. Information Services recommends the Dell laptop for software compatibility, ease of use and on campus certified Dell technicians to offer hardware and software support. Please confirm that your technology requirements for university business are compatible with a MacBook Pro before selecting this option.

MacBook Pro details:

  • Processor: MxPro, Memory: 16 GB, Storage: 512GB SSD
  • MacBooks can have compatibility issues with business applications
  • Limited technical support or institutional knowledge
  • Often not as good of a user experience
  • Less compatibility and feature set with Microsoft applications
  • More expensive for the university than the Dell Latitude
