Helpful Tools for Faculty

To facilitate better online communication and collaboration within the entire DePaul community of faculty, staff, and students, Information Services has implemented a number of technology resources for members of the DePaul community.  These are powerful tools and we hope that you will take a few steps to set yourself up, explore them, reconnect with the communities and individuals that you may be missing right now, and have a successful Spring quarter.

Microsoft Teams and OneDrive, included in Office 365

Office 365 has great services for communicating with the university community, including Microsoft Teams, OneDrive, and an address book that makes it easier to find and reach other people at DePaul. If all students, faculty and staff utilize these Office 365 tools, everyone can communicate and collaborate more effectively. 

  1. Go to office365.depaul.edu
  2. Login using your Campus Connect login credentials
  3. On this page, you can access your @depaul.edu e-mail, Teams, OneDrive storage, and cloud-based versions of Office 365 applications like Word and Excel. You also have the option to install the Office apps on your computer for free.

Microsoft Teams

Microsoft provides a wealth of online training and reference resources, which we have collected and provided here for you to get started. DePaul students, faculty and staff are all encouraged to install and use Teams. It’s a great place to find and chat with all members of the university community.

Important Note: Microsoft Teams is now available to the entire university community including students. This means that it is important to be aware of who can and cannot access a Team that you create. Also, make sure to set your Teams to “Private” unless you want all DePaul faculty, staff and students to have access to a Team.  See the overview of Teams and Channels, along with an overview of permissions.   

OneDrive

OneDrive offers cloud-based document storage. It is also integrated with other Office 365 products.


Zoom video conferencing 

DePaul faculty members have access to the pro version of Zoom accounts, which allows users to host meetings with up to 300 participants.  DePaul faculty have the option to conference outside of D2L, and Zoom integrates directly into Microsoft Office. You can also host Zoom classes and meetings through D2L with students. Registered students can attend classes and meetings through the Zoom integration in D2L. For more information: 

Note: Students have now been given an @depaul.edu email account and have been added into the Outlook address book. They will also be given Zoom pro accounts and have the ability to schedule and host their own Zoom meetings.  


Zoom offers several Zoom Education Webinar sessions each week with a live host to answer your questions, and focus on the following topics: 

  • How to download Zoom applications and join a Zoom meeting
  • How to schedule a meeting and send out invitations
  • In-meeting controls and differentiation tools (including the waiting room, share screen, breakout rooms)
