Not sure what to ask a potential landlord or property manager when you go apartment hunting? Here are a few good questions to get you started.

  • Does this apartment have parking?
  • How old is the house/building?
  • For how long is the lease?
  • Does this apartment have air conditioning?
  • Is this apartment heated? How?
  • What repairs or changes will you make to my apartment before I move in?
  • Can my roommate and I sign separate leases?
  • Are the utilities included in the rent?
  • What is the rent cost?
  • How much did you charge your last tenant?
  • Do we have to pay a security deposit? How will I get it back?
  • Do I need to pay for parking? How much is it?
  • Is there storage?
  • How much is the electricity here?
  • Do I need to pay a key deposit?
  • Can I have pets? If so, what kind?
  • What kind of changes can I make to the apartment? Can I paint the walls?
