That's a wrap on Study Abroad Week, but Global Fall @ DePaul continues with Global Conversations from Sept. 28 - Oct. 2! At the Global Conversations series you will have the opportunity to engage with students and faculty from all over the world and have meaningful discussions on how the pandemic has affected various academic disciplines and industries, such as psychology, public health, business and more. Check out the Global Conversations page for a full schedule of events.

Scavenger Hunt

Participate in the Study Abroad Week Scavenger hunt by attending various sessions and finding other information on the Study Abroad website to win a prize! Students who complete the scavenger hunt will be entered into a drawing for a $50 Amazon gift card!

Raffle

For every Study Abroad Week session you attend, complete the session evaluation to have your name entered into a raffle to win a prize! First prize is a $75 Visa gift card and second prize is a $25 Visa gift card!

Study Abroad 101
  • Time: 11:00 a.m.
  • Session Description: This session will provide an overview of how study abroad works at DePaul. It will include details on the types of programs offered, when programs take place, how academic credits work, cost of programs, scholarships that are available, and how to start searching for the programs that might be the best fit for you.
Financing Your Study Abroad Experience
Financing Your Study Abroad Experience
  • Time: 1:00 p.m.
  • Session Description: While study abroad programs can very greatly in cost, DePaul has many programs that are very affordable options. There are also DePaul scholarships and outside scholarships that can provide a great deal of financial assistance to students who want to study abroad. This session will go into detail about how to choose an affordable program and maximize your opportunities for scholarships and other financial assitance.

Study Abroad During COVID-19
  • Time: 3:00 p.m.
  • Session Description: The current COVID-19 pandemic has profoundly impacted study abroad programming, and this session will discuss how DePaul's Study Abroad office is moving forward during COVID-19. There will be information on how programs have been impacted, what new virtual study abroad options are in the works, and how DePaul is considering health and safety as we plan for future study abroad programs.
Global Learning Experiences
Global Learning Experiences
  • Time: 10:00 a.m.
  • Session Description: In this session, students will learn about the Global Learning Experiences (GLE) program. The GLE program includes regular DePaul courses through which students collaborate with international peers on a project for a portion of the class. Students will learn about the benefits of GLE, previous GLE projects, and how to sign up.
Study Abroad for Honors Students
Study Abroad for Honors Students
  • Time: 11:00 a.m.
  • Session Description: This session is for Honors students and will talk about how study abroad can fit into your Honors curriculum. Advisors and Honors students who have studied abroad will share their advice and experiences, while being available to answer questions.
Study Abroad for First-Year Students
Study Abroad for First-Year Students
  • Time: 2:00 p.m.
  • Session Description: This session is intended for first-year students who are new to DePaul. There will be information on how to start planning early to include study abroad in your college experience. We will also talk about the FY@broad programs, which are special short study abroad programs specifically designed for first-year students.
International Trivia
International Trivia
  • Time: 7:00 p.m.
  • Session Description: Join this interactive trivia game (with prizes!) with international trivia questions that will teach you about the world and how study abroad works at DePaul. Amazon gift cards of $75, $50, and $25 will be given to the top three student finishers!

  • Session Description: This session will help students learn about how to plan for study abroad, including scholarships and affordability and career benefits. Students will also learn about low-cost program options, including virtual study abroad opportunities and the Identities Abroad program series. Members of the Study Abroad Diversity Committee, student alum, and university campus partners from the Office of Multicultural Student Success will be in attendance to share their perspective and answer questions.

  • Session Description: This session will help students learn about study abroad program options with a focus on service learning. Any interested students, including Community Service Studies scholars, will have a chance to learn about community service while abroad. The Steans Center Executive Director, study abroad advisors, and a student alum will be in attendance to share their perspective and answer questions.

Study Abroad Alums Talk Careers
  • Time: 6:00 p.m.
  • Session Description: An international learning experience can help you get your dream job! Attend this alumni panel to learn how you can easily set yourself apart from other professional candidates. DePaul Study Abroad will share data on how study abroad can benefit career outcomes. The goal is clear: to help students connect that studying abroad means better career outcomes after graduation.
Working Abroad & GoinGlobal
Working Abroad & GoinGlobal
  • Time: 10:00 a.m.
  • Session Description: This session will introduce students to GoinGlobal, a resource available to DePaul students who may want to work internationally after graduation. Students will learn how to use GoinGlobal to adapt their resume, search for positions, and prepare for successful interviews. The Assistant Director of Global Engagement will be in attendance to share their perspective and answer questions.

  • Time: 11:00 a.m.
  • Session Description: This session will introduce students to the Global Fluency Certificate (GFC). The Global Fluency Certificate recognizes undergraduates who choose to incorporate several global opportunities into their DePaul degree. Students will learn about the benefits and requirements of the certificate. The Assistant Director of Global Engagement will be in attendance to share their perspective and answer questions.
Leveraging Study Abroad for Your Career
Leveraging Study Abroad for Your Career
  • Time: 1:00 p.m.
  • Session Description: This session will demonstrate the benefits of highlighting your international education experience to future employers in a cover letter, resume, and during the interview process. Students will learn how to talk about and effectively communicate their knowledge, skills, and abilities gained as a result of study abroad. A study abroad advisor and DePaul University alums will be in attendance to share their perspective and answer questions.

  • Time: 2:00 p.m.
  • Session Description: This session will introduce students to study abroad programs that include international internships, including virtual internship opportunities. Students will learn about the benefits of gaining career and international experience simultaneously by completing an international internship. A study abroad advisor and a student alum will be in attendance to share their perspective and answer questions.
