Faculty-sponsored Student Travel

​Global Engagement is responsible for maintaining a Travel Registration database with pertinent information regarding international travel by DePaul University students. 

In order to keep this database current, Colleges, Schools, Departments or Programs sponsoring various types of student travel abroad, and students traveling independently abroad for DePaul related purposes, must notify Global Engagement of their travel plans by registering their travel within the Travel Registration database.

Please note: Travel Registration is not intended to address situations where faculty and staff travel abroad without accompanying DePaul students.
 
The Travel Registration database includes dates of travel, location of travel, purpose of travel and emergency contact information.  The database also provides important information and resources regarding health and safety while traveling abroad, and helps improve the safety of those traveling by allowing the University to quickly communicate with students in case of an emergency at home or abroad. 
 

Health Insurance Requirement

All DePaul students traveling abroad under the circumstances described above are required to purchase DePaul University's health insurance plan provided by Cultural Insurance Services International, CISI.  Students will be automatically enrolled in the CISI insurance plan upon completion of the Travel Registration process.  For insurance rates and policy information please contact: travelregistration@depaul.edu
 

Travel to Countries with Travel Warnings

The U.S. Department of State issues travel warnings related to specific countries or regions.  DePaul has an established approval process whereas the Provost must approve in advance all University-sponsored programs traveling to countries subject to a current travel warning issued by the Department of State.  To find out if a country has a Travel Warning please visit the U.S. Department of State website.

Travel Warning Application Process:

Step 1:
Download and complete the application materials below to request approval for travel to Travel Warning countries.  A full application will include:
  1. Cover letter
  2. Formal Proposal
  3. Safety and Evacuation Plan
  4. Support Verification Form to be filled out by (2) of the following representatives:
Step 2:
Scan and send a complete Travel Warning Application to the Global Engagement Travel Registration administrator at: travelregistration@depaul.edu
 
Step 3:
Global Engagement's Travel Registration administrator will send a confirmation receipt of your Travel Warning Application and will ask for any missing materials, if applicable.  Your application will be sent to the Associate Provost for Global Engagement and Online Learning to be presented and approved by DePaul University’s Global Task Force (GTF).  GTF is responsible for advising the Provost on all Travel Warning Applications.  The Provost will approve or deny Travel Warning Application requests upon discretion.
 
Step 4:
The Travel Registration administrator will inform you of the Provost’s approval or denial of your Travel Warning Application via email.  If your travel is approved, you will be sent a link for any student(s) to begin registering their travel within the Travel Registration database.
