Academic probation at any time in the student's first year is highly indicative that the student will not graduate in four or six years. Early notification by faculty, preferably by week four of the quarter, of students' difficulty in first-year classes is critical to directing students to helpful academic resources. Students should be aware that poor academic performance in their first-year tends to have negative long-term consequences.
