National Comparisons

​​​DePaul is the largest private, not-for-profit university in the Midwest and the 13th-largest private institution nationally. DePaul has been the largest Catholic university in the nation for 20 consecutive years, having exceeded St. John’s University in total enrollment in 1998. DePaul enrolled 11 percent of the enrollment at the 15 largest Catholic institutions in 2017. 

Since 2008, enrollment at the largest Catholic institutions increased by 4 percent to 207,723 students, an increase of 8,249 students. From 2013 to 2017, enrollment at these institutions remained largely unchanged, decreasing by 229 students. ​​​​​
