National Comparisons

​​​DePaul is the largest private, not-for-profit university in the Midwest and the 14th-largest private institution nationally. DePaul has been the largest Catholic university in the nation for 19 consecutive years, having exceeded St. John’s University in total enrollment in 1998. DePaul enrolled 11 percent of the enrollment at the 15 largest Catholic institutions in 2016. 

Since 2007, enrollment at the largest Catholic institutions increased by 7 percent to 214,012 students, an increase of 13,845 students. From 2012 to 2016, enrollment at these institutions remained largely unchanged, decreasing by 1,691 students.
