Gwyn Friend, associate vice president, has led University Marketing Communications at DePaul University since 1999. University Marketing Communications works with administration, departments and college offices to plan, create and implement a variety of communication initiatives, particularly in the areas of prospective student recruitment, brand-related promotions and non-recruitment publications. Her area is also responsible for advertising, brand standards, the university's logo, the core of DePaul's website and other marketing and communications projects.
Gwyn's team has won awards from the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC), Public Relations Society of America (PRSA), Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) District V, University and College Designers Association (UCDA), and The Communicator for excellence in advertising, publications and communications initiatives.
Gwyn has over 30 years of experience in university communications and marketing, including campaign strategy and implementation, art direction, editorial oversight, advertising, media placement and market research. She holds a bachelor's degree in English from DePaul and has completed additional course work at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She is a member of the American Marketing Association and the International Association of Business Communicators.
